Miro Svolik (born 1960 in ZlatÈ Moravce) is one of the major "star" photographers to emerge from the graduates of FAMU in the early '80s in Prague. His poetic truths depicted in text-picture "stories," metaphoric images constructed with complicated human mosaics, reflect with childlike simplicity his views of interpersonal relations and universal strivings of man, a longing for ideals and intuitive knowledge. His current work, often in the form of collages, focusses on man and his relation to nature

svolik's When I Returned Home, 1986...Miro Svolik is the one artist who reinvents himself artistically every several years with each incarnation being as strong as the ones before them. This began with a series he did at Famu called "My life as a human being," which was a narrative series of images shot from the tops of apartment buildings into the parking lots below. To be seen in the image, the models had to lie down on the cement, turn sideways and pretend to walk or fly.
